Brooke Michiels
Brooke is a Louisiana native that graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a major in political science. Brooke earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola University College of Law in New Orleans in 2016. During law school she worked for a federal judge at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana as well as for the New Orleans District Attorney’s office. After law school she went back to coach her former mock trial team at ULM where she began her practical experience working with Social Security disability clients.
Brooke has been admitted to the State Bar of Louisiana and can appear nationally for Social Security claims. Since 2017, Brooke has appeared in person at hearings in over 10 states and virtually with clients and Judges from around the entire United States. In 2020, Brooke focused her work at a local nonprofit in Colorado, The Arc of Larimer County. She was in-house counsel for the Arc clients for three years, working almost exclusively with individuals with developmental disabilities and neurocognitive disorders. This was a very hands-on environment that required her to be educated on every stage of the Social Security process from applications to hearing. Brooke is passionate about disability law and the clients she represents.
